World Bee Day -- Time for a patch
Not gonna lie, we originally intended to release a larger update including new gameplay features at the beginning of next month, but World Bee Day snuck up on us as a surprise and threw a spanner in our works. So instead, here's a small patch that fixes some of the more annoying bugs we encountered.
Showing some heart for the android build
While this project has always been intended to be a mobile game, we threw together the actual android build somewhat hastily -- and it showed. This patch fixes two major annoyances that were only present in the android build version of the game:
- Minimizing and then returning to the app no longer causes a complete reload of the game, so if you turn off your phone because you need to change trains, you no longer lose your current game progress. Yay!
- Turns out Android's WebViewAssetLoader doesn't work very well with http requests that utilize the range header, which caused all sorts of wonkey audio behaviour and made the audio non-seekable. After going down a bit of a rabbit hole, we finally managed to fix the problem, so audio should be a lot smoother now! (Though there may still be an occasional glitch here or there)
And ... that's pretty much it already. But don't worry, we still plan to release that larger update soon, so stay on the lookout! Who knows, maybe we'll even add a BvB mode? (maybe not)
Happy bee day!
